Create an itinerary including Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum
Explore the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets and rugs in the world at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, displaying traditional and modern patterns of the nation's UNESCO-protected applied art. Opened in 1967 as the first specialized museum for carpets in the world, the museum has amassed an impressive collection over the decades. And in 2015 it relocated from a mosque to a modern building shaped like a rolled-up carpet by the Caspian Sea. Watch women weaving their patterns in one of the workshops, and learn about the different techniques and meanings of various patterns. Over 10,000 accompanying artifacts such as ceramics, jewelry, and metalwork enrich your understanding of this cultural heritage. • Now if your a fan of Persian carpets you will love this place. I came more for the architecture than anything. As you can see from the pictures the building is made to look like a rolled up carpet. As you can Magine the inside has quite a few Persian carpets with their significance described below. It’s interesting but if you don’t have a lot of time I will drive by not go in. But like I said if you like Persian carpets this would be five stars for you.
  • Great location for learn about the traditional craft and history of this great country. Many outstanding carpets to inspect and observe. A must visit place in Baku.
