Surrounded by dense woods, Hohe Wand Wiese features skiing and snowboarding slopes, suitable for small children and beginners. Opened in 1966, the ski slope hosted the first parallel slalom in 1967. Long before it became a skiing destination, the area was popular among 19th-century hikers, who came here to explore the lush green valley encircled by forested mountains. Facilities include a snowmaking system, two draglifts (one for adults and one for kids), and floodlights for night skiing. Visited while on a trip to Vienna from Ireland. Brilliant place, excellent staff, particularly Patrick at the trail centre and the young lady driving the shuttle bus. Both friendly, helpful and welcoming. The trails are excellent, great choice for different levels of skill. Food and drinks at restaurant was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return.
Excellent mountain biking place for the whole family. Great trails for beginner's practicing. People at the lifts have been super helpful for us. Even though we were beginners and the children were very afraid to go up, the guys helped us get in and out the lift easily! Thanks so much! The restaurant also has good food and OK prices. Coffee not so good. The only negative point that costs a star is the very stressed and unfriendly waitress today. Sorry to say, but in places like these (not only of curse), you need friendly and cheerful people working that make you feel welcome and lift the community's spirit. Great place overall, we'll be definitely coming back for the ski season!
