  • It is an old reservoir located in Central Park built in the 1860s as a temporary water supply for New York City. Its function was to supply water to the city during the two weeks a year that the Croton Aqueduct remained out of service for maintenance. He served the city for 131 years, until 1993. In 1994, the reservoir was renamed in honor of Jacqueline Kennedy. Her contributions to the city that saw her born were thus recognized. "Jackie" used to run around the area and lived to death in an apartment located a few meters away, on Fifth Avenue. The perimeter of the reservoir is enabled for running with a distance of 2.54 km. It's one of the important things about visiting the park.., you can't leave without seeing it.
