The Battle of Britain Bunker is an underground operations room at RAF Uxbridge, formerly used by No. 11 Group Fighter Command during the Second World War. Fighter aircraft operations were controlled from there throughout the War but most notably during the Battle of Britain and on D-Day. Today it is run by Hillingdon Council as a heritage attraction with attached museum. Construction of a new visitor centre above ground began in 2016.
The Bunker is located at RAF Uxbridge, not far from Uxbridge town centre and Uxbridge Underground station.

  • Really enjoyed my visit. Fortunate to get guided tour into the Bunker. The guide was very interesting & informative. Enjoyed looking at & using the inter- active aspects of the museum. Different activities for children including trying on RAF uniforms. There was a gift shop & cafe which was well used. I will be going back to enjoy the sections I didn't have time to finish
  • This is the bunker from which the operations of 11 Group were controlled during the Battle of Britain, that Group being responsible for the air defence of London and the South East. To see and understand how the squadrons responsible were controlled, dispatched and enemy movements from radar and Observer Corps sightings was brilliantly explained, and there it all is, most of the actual infrastructure all there or restored well. Excellent guides and frankly one of the best visits I have ever had to an historical site, the significance of which to British, European and world history cannot be understated. There are two Spitfires and two Hurricanes on site, the visitor centre and museum is excellent, and a good (if slightly slow service) cafe too - excellent cakes!
