Raphael Park, Romford

4.6
Raphael Park is a historical public park with heritage dating back to the 18th Century. Initially the park belonged to Henry Raphael, a British barrister and Liberal party politician, but the over the years he donated several acres to the Local Essex Council until the park was opened to the public in 1904.

Since then the park has been enjoyed my many generations and is still thriving today.

The aim is to incorporate formal and informal outdoors education sessions to get Children more involved in their local green spaces.

In addition to this, the Officer will also be coordinating volunteer activities in the park to help; encourage wildlife, increase public participation, run educational events and manage the park

If you are interested in outdoors education or want to become a Volunteer then please contact Taylor Smyth-Richards with the information provided on this page.

  • Lovely park and play area. There is also a place to buy snacks, ice creams and drinks etc. Lovely walk to the lake. Lots of painted stones lying around in different places no idea why but my granddaughter enjoyed finding them and reading their little messages.
  • Really lovely atmosphere and very clean.. just disappointed by how yellow the grass is! Such a beautiful park should be more green. But it was perfect for our large family picnic of 17 people and the park is big enough that we had our own space and didn't impose on other visitors.
