Conwy Castle has everything you imagine a medieval castle would: massive defensive walls with round towers, fortified gateways, and a perch on a rocky outcropping next to a body of water. UNESCO recognizes the castle as one of Europe's best examples of military architecture from the late 13th and early 14th centuries. Take a self-guided tour and visit the great hall, private chambers, and chapel, then head to the top of one of the towers for views of the surrounding Welsh countryside, the River Conwy, and the Irish Sea. Interpretive signs throughout the site present its history. Disabled visitors receive free admission, but wheelchair access is confined to the visitor center. Built for King Ed I - so its ancient - 13th century. Conwy castle is what my childhood memories tell me a castle should be - sitting proud with impregnable wall, lots of towers and arrow slits...

Magnificent castle ruins with a deep history. We did the self guided tour. The castle has many areas to explore, and several of the towers are open for visitors to climb all the way to the top. The site has great views of the surrounding lands and sea. Would also recommend checking out the castle walls, which surround the town of Conwy and are free to access. They provide the best views of Conwy Castle from the exterior.
Beautiful place to visit. The kids love crabbing here and you couldn't ask for a better backdrop than the fantastic Conwy castle. Ice cream here is the best we've had too! Walk around the castle walls, visit the castle itself, browse the variety of quaint/traditional shops, lots to do and see. We love it here!
