Caacupe

Founded by grenadier Carlos Murphy in 1770, the city of Caacupe serves as the capital of the Cordillera department.
Change things up with these side-trips from Caacupe: Parque Nacional Ybycui (in Ybycui), Paraguari (Salto Cristal & Eco Reserva Mbatovi) and Villarrica (Museo Fermin Lopez & Parque Del Guaira). There's lots more to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia San Buenaventura de Yaguaron, learn about all things military at Parque Nacional Vapor Cue, go for a walk through El Escondido, and ponder the design of Tupasy Ycua.

To see reviews, other places to visit, where to stay, and more tourist information, use the Caacupe trip builder website.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiport is Silvio Pettirossi International Airport. In April, daytime highs in Caacupe are 34°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 30th (Thu) to allow time for travel back home.
