Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cabo da Roca and Praia do Carvalhal. Get outdoors at Ilha do Pessegueiro and Praia de Foz. Explore Lisbon's surroundings by going to Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira & Park and National Palace of Pena), Marinhas de Sal (in Rio Maior) and Praia da Aberta Nova (in Grandola). There's still lots to do: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Lisbon Oceanarium, pause for some photo ops at Padrao dos Descobrimentos, step into the grandiose world of Castelo de Sao Jorge, and get to know the fascinating history of Belém Tower.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major airport is Lisbon Portela Airport. Expect a daytime high around 20°C in November, and nighttime lows around 12°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Tue) to allow time to do a combination of back home.
