Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Eger (Kovacs Nimrod Winery, Kopcsik Marcipania Szamos edessegbolt, &more), Szentendre (Transportation Museum, Mikrocsodak Muzeuma, &more) and Sirok Castle (in Sirok). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Hungarian Parliament Building, take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), contemplate the long history of Matthias Church, and appreciate the history behind Heroes' Square.

To find photos, where to stay, other places to visit, and other tourist information, you can read our Budapest travel route builder app.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In April, daytime highs in Budapest are 20°C, while nighttime lows are 5°C.
