Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Museu Nacional do Azulejo and Museu Calouste Gulbenkian will appeal to museum buffs. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima and Igreja de Sao Roque. Take a break from Lisbon with a short trip to Batalha Monastery in Batalha, about 1h 45 min away. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Parque das Nacoes, see the interesting displays at National Coach Museum, take a stroll through Alfama, and contemplate the long history of Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.

For more things to do, where to stay, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Lisbon day trip planning site.

Toronto, Canada to Lisbon is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You'll lose 5 hours traveling from Toronto to Lisbon due to the time zone difference. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Toronto in November; daily highs in Lisbon reach °C and lows reach °C. On the 3rd (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Porto.
