Paraguay's capital and economic center, Asuncion ranks among the youngest cities on the continent, with more than half of its residents under 30 years of age.
Take a break from the city and head to Parque Nu Guasu and Aventura Xtrema. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Cultural Center of the Republic and Parque de la Salud. Get out of town with these interesting Asuncion side-trips: Lago Ypacarai (in San Bernardino), Vivant (in Lambare) and Catedral Virgen de Caacupe (in Caacupe). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Costanera de Asuncion, get engrossed in the history at Gran Hotel del Paraguay, get a taste of the local shopping with Shopping del Sol, and get a sense of history and politics at Palacio de López.

The commercial center of eastern Paraguay, busy Ciudad Del Este serves primarily as a shopping destination for Argentines and Brazilians.
Step off the beaten path and head to Lago de la Republica and Catedral de San Blas. Get in touch with nature at Parque Aventura Monday and Snow Park. Encarnacion offers a good selection of cultural and natural attractions.
Visiting Playa Tacuary and San Jose Beach will get you outdoors. Spend the 14th (Fri) exploring nature at National Park Cordillera San Rafael.
