Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Get in touch with nature at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Alfama are good opportunities to explore the local culture. When in Lisbon, make a side trip to see Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, approximately 36 minutes away. There's much more to do: explore the historical opulence of Castelo de S. Jorge, make a trip to Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco), see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and admire nature's wide array of creatures at Lisbon Oceanarium.

As the busy capital of São Miguel, Ponta Delgada represents the most visited place on the island. Known for its historical buildings, the city offers 17th- and 18th-century convents and churches, as well as cobbled pedestrian streets and hidden squares.
Get in touch with nature at Caldeira das Sete Cidades and Poca Da Dona Beija. Priolo Environmental Center and Santana Astronomical Observatory are good opportunities to explore the local culture.
