Paraguay's capital and economic center, Asuncion ranks among the youngest cities on the continent, with more than half of its residents under 30 years of age.
Get a sense of the local culture at Cultural Center of the Republic and Casa de la Independencia. Catedral Virgen de Caacupe and Iglesia de la Santisima Trinidad will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Vivant (in Lambare), Cerro Coi (in Aregua) and San Bernardino (Lago Ypacarai & Aventura Xtrema). There's still lots to do: get outside with Parque Nu Guasu, ponder the world of politics at Palacio de López, make a trip to Costanera de Asuncion, and admire the masterpieces at Museo del Barro.

Pilar is the capital city of the Paraguayan department of Ñeembucú, located along the Paraguay River in the southwestern part of the country. Start off your visit on the 23rd (Tue): take an in-depth tour of Museo Alberzoni, pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral de Pilar, and then see the interesting displays at Museo Cabildo de Pilar.

Get some historical perspective at La Santisima Trinidad De Parana and Costanera de la Ciudad de Encarnacion Paraguay. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Playa Tacuary and Iglesia Nuestra Senora de la Inmaculada Concepcion. Go for a jaunt from Encarnacion to San Cosme y Damian to see Mision Jesuita de San Cosme y San Damian about 1h 30 min away. Spend the 25th (Thu) exploring nature at National Park Cordillera San Rafael. There's more to do: kick back and relax at San Jose Beach.
