Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Change things up with a short trip to Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra (about 36 minutes away). Dedicate the 19th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. The adventure continues: take a stroll through Belém Tower, make a trip to Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco), contemplate the long history of Jeronimos Monastery, and step into the grandiose world of Castelo de S. Jorge.

San Antonio, USA to Lisbon is an approximately 17-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Western European Time, which is usually a 6 hour difference. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from San Antonio in April, with highs in Lisbon at 70°F and lows at 52°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) so you can travel to Porto.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Dedicate the 21st (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, get the lay of the land with Walking tours, don't miss a visit to Liberdade Square, and admire the masterpieces at Museu Serralves.

Getting from Lisbon to Porto by flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Lisbon in April: highs in Porto hover around 65°F, while lows dip to 50°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can travel to Furnas.

Sete Cidades is a civil parish in the center of the municipality of Ponta Delgada, that is likewise located in the center of a massive volcanic crater three miles across, also referred to as Sete Cidades. Start off your visit on the 27th (Sat): explore the activities along Natural Pool, explore the activities along Lagoa Azul, Sao Miguel Acores, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Caldeira das Sete Cidades.
