Must see · Zoo · Zoo / Aquarium
Walk among apes and monkeys in a natural forest environment at Apenheul. Opened in 1971, the zoo was the first in the world to house primates in open environments where visitors could interact with them. Now home to more than 30 different primates, including bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans, the facility promotes conservation, as well as love and understanding of primates. Grab a front row seat at a feeding session. The knowledgeable staff member running the show will answer any questions. If you're lucky, a curious monkey might climb on you. • This is an amazing zoo, everyone should visit. It's world's apart from any other zoo I've visited. You could easily spend a full day here and still have stuff to return for. There was a fun interactive feature where children could explore hand sizes, tool usage, food choices, limb length etc and loads of fun playground equipment spread throughout for the children to enjoy. Our three were shattered at the end of the day!
  • Make sure you have all day! Beautiful environment. Interesting facts. Plenty to see. Wind your way trough the greenery. Stop for a snack and enjoy.
