Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Castile and Leon / Province of Segovia / Segovia / Catedral de Segovia
Wherever you wander around town, the towering 16th-century Gothic style Catedral de Segovia looms above you. You should have no problems finding plenty of angles from which to photograph it. As you wander the building's perimeter, check out the sculpture of the Virgin Mary on the main facade. Once inside, take your time to appreciate the high vaults, dome, stained glass windows, and many paintings and sculptures. Head into the archive to see “The Synod of Aguilafuente,” the first book printed in Spain. The massive tower is only accessible with special permission from the cathedral's administrators, so don’t expect views. Put Catedral de Segovia and other Segovia attractions into our Segovia tour planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Catedral de Segovia Reviews

Fabulous building! There is also an art museum down stairs that is so vibrantly colored. I didn’t realize you couldn’t take pictures and I took one before they said no fotos. I didn’t even have my flash on. Segovia the day we were there was perfect weather not too hot, it was the end of May, and it made for beautiful pictures. The grounds were beautiful. The architecture was fabulous. There is one picture you can see it is wood and not stone on the ceiling. This really is a beautiful building and the art museum downstairs was just icing on the cake. The baroque style is so fabulous especially when there is a castle right down the road, which by the way is walking distance.
I can't really say more than has been said already. If you are in Segovia, you must visit the cathedral. For me, a bonus was that it is beside the major plaza of the town. Sit in the plaza with a drink, coffee or snack from one of the vendors offering al fresco tables and enjoy the beauty of the cathedral while you relax.
