The largest religious structure in San Sebastian, Buen Pastor Cathedral remains one of the country's finest examples of Neo-Gothic architecture. Designed by architect Manuel de Echave and finished in 1897, the commanding sandstone building features a rectangular floor plan with three naves. In addition to ornamental gargoyles and pinnacles, the cathedral's notable decorative elements include large stained-glass windows with images of the 12 apostles. Its main tower rises to a height of 75 m (245 ft), and the church covers a total of 1,900 sq m (20,500 sq ft). Step inside to see the impressive organ; with over 9,500 pipes, it is one of the largest such instruments ever built in Europe.
