Stretch your legs at Parque Madrid Rio, a 10-km (6.2-mi) long park that runs along the banks of the Manzanares River. Set off on one of the many walking and cycling routes, play a round of tennis, or simply laze on the grass. Cool off at the park’s “beach,” where you can bask in a shallow pool or run among streams of water. Children can tire themselves out in one of 17 different play areas. Stroll through the Huerta de la Partida, an orchard restored to its 18th-century splendor, with trees growing almonds, pears, olives, figs, and more. Check what’s going on in the Matadero Madrid, a former slaughterhouse that today hosts a variety of cultural events. There are a number of places to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Put Parque Madrid Rio and other Madrid attractions into our Madrid route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • A great open space with a wide trail for walking, running, or cycling. There were a number of smaller playgrounds along the route and you really only have to cross 1 major road along a 6km stretch...

  • Nice park built along the river in Madrid. There are many playgrounds and cafes around. Very suitable for walking, there is also a nice view of several bridges over the river.

  • Loved this place. Open air park near to the river. Visited on a Friday late afternoon, so many people having fun and just chilling out. Music was playing and people were dancing. Great vibes. Amazing foot bridge.
  • A great idea to get some refreshment during the hot summer days in Madrid. Ideal for families with kids. There is also a huge area for sunbathing. Nice neighborhood as well. On the oposite side of the river you can find a few bars with reasonable prices.
