Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Canary Islands / Fuerteventura / La Oliva / El Cotillo / El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons
The calm pools at El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons make for great swimming or snorkeling, but be cautious as unexpected currents are common. Looking out across the water, you’ll see a lighthouse and, looking inland, a volcanic desert. This unique setting served as a movie set for a major production, “Exodus” by Ridley Scott. Although you’ll find one cafe, consider bringing a picnic or barbecue supplies. Its not uncommon to see clothing optional swimmers and sunbathers at this beach. Loved this beach. A hidden treasure, I believe. When entering the village of El Cotillo, turn left and follow a dirt road. Just park by the edge of the cliff and the beach is right in front of you...

With so many lovely beaches on Fuerteventura this is another one to visit and enjoy and it was not that busy.

To admire the beautiful beaches of Fuerteventura and to taste the fresh and delicious fish you have just caught, I would recommend going to the town of El Cotillo in the north, northeast of Fuerteventura. It is a small but cozy fishing town, the people are friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the wonderful pearls of El Cotillo is the beach, where you will spend a great day after which you can bury fresh fish produced in many restaurants. I recommend this great town for a summer vacation or a day trip.
A beautiful tranquil beach with turquoise waters and white sand on the north west of the island. It is clearly a trendy area, normally frequented by cool surfer types, I say normally because like all areas at the moment due to the Covid restrictions are very quiet. But anyway if you are staying nearby or perhaps drive up to the North to visit the volcano then this is a great stop over. We spent a couple of hours chilling on the beach in the hot sun, yes it was a bit breezy but thanks to the stone built wind breakers, once you lie down on your towel, you hardly notice the wind at all. There was free parking directly on the beach and a lot of little restaurants and shops nearby. Highly recommended when you visit Fuerteventura
