Port Vell is the modern heart of the tourists’ Barcelona, even though its name translates to “Old Port.” There are multiple theaters, including an IMAX theater, and numerous shops. It’s also home to Europe’s largest aquarium. Take the time to see the bridge open up for a boat to pass, and look at the water to admire the swimming fish and floating sculptures. Note that this port connects to the pedestrian street Las Ramblas.   • My last visit here was in 1970. To say it is different is an understatement. For the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona wisely decided to renovate the port and they kept the original facades of the classic old....  more »
