Just outside of Pajara, you'll find the caves and black lava sands of Cuevas de Ajuy. This ancient fishing village is the site where Bethencourt disembarked to conquer the island for Spain in 1402. Enjoy freshly caught fish at one of the small restaurants on the beach, or have a drink at the bar up on the hill and enjoy expansive Atlantic views. While the waves are impressive to watch, swimming here isn't recommended because of the strong undertow. Don't miss a visit to the caves, free of charge and just a short walk up the path from the beach. Wear shoes with a good grip because the steps can be slippery. • Grilled local fish is super delicious and service is super nice and friendly.
  • Yummy seafood and other typical specialities. Close to the beach. Also the smallest bathroom I've ever seen.
