See more than 450 species of marine life at the biggest indoor aquarium in Europe, Lisbon Oceanarium. Peter Chermayeff designed this massive oceanarium, which opened to the public in 1998, so visitors could learn about native and foreign flora, fauna, and wildlife. View more than 16,000 creatures, including sunfish, penguins, birds, sea otters, sharks, jellyfish, and rays. You'll also find activities for children of all ages. Take a guided tour, participate in a workshop, or sleep overnight with the sharks. Lisbon Oceanarium is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Lisbon Edition.

Lisbon Oceanarium Reviews
Um lugar belíssimo. Dá vontade de não sair mais de lá de dentro tamanhas as informações e belezas da natureza marinha que se vê por lá. more »A beautiful place. It makes you want not to get out of there more than the information and beauties of the marine nature that you see there.

This aquarium, however, has nothing to envy to that of La Rochelle. Big downside: there is a cash checkout payment at the counter and a payment by cash register. At the counter it takes an hour to queue or more, at the cash register it's faster but you can't benefit from the family rate. Result: you arrive in front of the automaton and you pay 20 euros more or you start the queue again from the beginning to access a cash register with atthe counter. There were several families who were trapped in this way. There is no sign that the family rate does not apply with automatons. The employee present confirmed this. It's really a scam to make families pay!
Excellent aquarium for kids and grown ups. Tip: book your ticket online and it will be cheaper than at the booth! We really love this aquarium! It offers a temporary exhibition, an exhibit of art and a permanent exhibition with the most fascinating and stunning enormous fish tank. The whole building is arranged so that you walk around the main tank and every of the smaller basins leads to the central tank again. From otters to penguins, from sharks to manta rays - this aquarium has them all! But the secret star is the sun fish. It took us over two hours to walk around the main exhibition and time flies when you admire those beautiful creatures. Definitely a must-do when in Lisbon
This place is amazing. Best aquarium I've been in. There are loads of fish. Educational videos. The Japanese exhibition was wonderful. The garden creation was amazing. It was very busy but if you wait a few minutes you get to a prime position. The otters and penguins where my favourite. Staff where friendly. I would recommend. Price is average for an aquarium anywhere in the world and they put money back into research and fish care. My second time here. Disappointing that there were no caps on sale in the shop as we actually specifically returned to the aquarium to buy some.
