Take a break from your tour of Sao Miguel with a relaxing swim at Poca Da Dona Beija, a small spa featuring three natural pools of iron-rich water known for its therapeutic properties. Fed by a series of hot springs, the small pools remain at about 39 C (102 F), an ideal temperature for soothing tense muscles and easing pains associated with chronic rheumatism. On-site facilities include restrooms, showers, and changing rooms, as well as a small gift shop selling handmade jewelry. Keep in mind that the yellowish water can leave stains on your clothes, so wear an old bathing suit for your swim. • Beautiful place. I love the environment. Its clean, well designed and treated. The hot water is extra ordinary. I recommend to go there when its cold or raining.  more »

  • Spend about an hour in these hot baths and enjoy an easy going afternoon. It's like a natural hot tub. It's natural high iron content will result in stains on your skin and light colored clothing. Recommended to wear dark colors and have clean skin before entering the pools. If you have oils (lotion, sunscreen, or natural skin oils) on your skin, you may leave the pools with orange rust all over your skin. Also, will easily transfer white or light colored bathing suits.
  • Stopped by here for an hour or so to check it out. Honestly, if you’re on the mood for a nice hot sauna-like experience, it is a must-visit spot. The naturally heated water is around 35-40 degrees Celsius and is such a nice relaxing experience after a long day of running around. Highly recommended.
