  This is a worthwhile visit if you’re in Volterra - you get to travel back in time and see what wealth and success represents around the year 1500. Visitors should note that you only get to see one floor of the Palace as the family still uses the property. The patriarch of the house recently passed away a couple of months ago, which is a huge loss as he used to provide an extra touch to the tour. There are now written guides in multiple languages in his place. Just skip the free wine tasting in the cellar afterwards - I had one of my worst experiences in Italy there. You don’t need language to be polite and nice.
