One of the most ancient churches in the city, Duomo dates back to the 10th century and honors Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Before you enter the attraction, take a moment to admire the exterior, and noting the white and green marble bands as well as the terra-cotta statue, "Madonna and Child with Saints." Inside, the grand Gothic ribbed vaulting will wow you along with the decorated pulpit and bronze crucifix. Don't miss the frescoes on the walls of the choir painted by Fra Filippo Lippi. If you have time, seek out the cathedral museum on the side of the church, which displays altar pieces, missals, and the renowned Holy Girdle.
