  La Casa Cisterna è un chiarissimo esempio di abitazione nei Sassi di Matera. Offre uno spaccato delle condizioni di vita della famiglia lucana del recente passato. Condividevano le stanze adulti, bambini, animali e all'interno della casa si svolgevano varie attività inerenti la vita quotidiana, quale la raccolta e canalizzazione dell'acqua, la produzione di olio, la conservazione dei cibi. Arredi ed oggetti presenti nelle stanze, molto ben conservati, testimoniano usi e costumi dei materani.
