Experience life on the farm at Irish Famine Cottages, a cottage built using stone and mud in the 19th century. Discover how people ate, how animals were kept, and how inhabitants told time during this somber period. Just behind the cottage, look for a large beehive hut believed to have lasted 800 years. Today the cottages are used for working sheepdog performances, and you can watch these sheep-farmers and their dogs herding livestock. • We were walking the Dingle way and came across this famine village. Very interesting and very near the Slea head road.  more »
  • Easily seen by the road. Not a whole long thing to see. But interesting to see for a bit. Reminds you how bad some people have it.  more »

  • We were given some pellets to feed the animals on the way up the hill to the cottages, which was a fun extra. There are some very spooky mannequins and really interesting plaques to read. Our 2 year old particularly liked the gravel pile.
  • No information on the website, but Google stated opened at 9.30 (sent message to get this amended). Several visitors collecting in the car park but all was closed. Not even a sign to say when/if they ever planned on opening. Don't make a special trip or you'll probably be disappointed.
