Volksparkstadion, Hamburg

4.2
Home to the German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV, Volksparkstadion was one of the stadiums used during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The site has been home to a stadium since 1925, though it was rebuilt in 1953 and again in 1998, due to increasing safety concerns and the need for greater capacity. If you aren't in town for a soccer match or a concert, take a tour of the stadium, or visit the museum to learn about its history. • We booked a personalised English speaking tour and were taken round the stadium by Birgit who was an excellent guide providing an informative history of SV Hamburg, their fans and the stadium itself.....  more »
  • Easy to get to on sBahn, excellent stadium and atmosphere. It can be loud and slightly intimidating if not used to large crowds but very safe on my visit.  more »

  • Home football stadium for HSV club. Partly covered with roof over the seating/audience area. Brilliant concert venue, especially when the weather stays dry and preferably warm. Good space for standing audience at concerts and okay seating with good views. It also has VIP lounges. The venue sells food and drink on all levels/floors, and have 'walking-sellers' of drinks and snacks too. The stadium is surrounded by a forest park with several parking lots. (Please note, that some concerts require closing down several parking lots to cater for the stage setup and security/ambulance. It might be a good idea to arrive in good time to park outside the stadium area and take a train, subway, bus or shuttle to the venue. I had a great experience here.
  • Loved it. Great stadium and atmosphere. Fans very friendly and SV Hamburg won!
