La Maison Carree blends past and present with one of the best-preserved ancient Roman temples in the world, as well as a 3-D film about the heroes of Nîmes. This temple once dominated the forum of Nîmes, thanks to a deep Hexastyle portico with six Corinthian columns at either end of the pediment. Admire the frieze's ornamental relief carvings of rosettes and acanthus leaves beneath rows of delicate dentils. The interior shrine is typically small and windowless. • It's closed right now but still worth the visit. You will also get to see some of the amazing squares of nimes as you walk there. You don't need more than 15 minutes there.

  • The Maison Carrée is one of the best-preserved roman temples and a very impressive building – it is thus well worth a visit. Despite being more than 2000 years old the temple is still very detailed...

  • The exterior of this temple is exquisite - it's the only preserved Roman temple in existence. Although the current situation is not its original (it has been renovated), it still stands strong as a testament to the Romans' presence in the south of France. It's an impressive sight. The interior, however, is a tourist trap.
  • I only saw it from the outside. Supposedly, it's one of the most perfectly preserved examples of Roman architecture. It's nice to look at.
