Boasting a pair of unmistakable spires, Church of Our Lady before Tyn is one of the symbols of the city, dominating the skyline of its old town. Originally built to service primarily foreign merchants visiting the city on business, the church features a Gothic exterior and Baroque interior. You may have to stand far back to fully appreciate the building's 80 m (262 m) high Gothic towers, completed in the early 1500s. Much easier to see from a comfortable perspective, the interior notably includes a Rococo altar and the tomb of Tycho Brahe, a distinguished astronomer and royal consultant. This cathedral is the gem of the Old Town Square. It is especially beautiful at Christmas, when a large fir tree is placed on the square and everything is beautifully illuminated. more »

Amazing place. Surprised me. No photos, strictly enforced. Poor guidebooks and online representations of the fabulous artwork. Looks like all artwork has been recently conserved and restored. But difficult to study due to lack of photography. Note one particular painting of Jesus on the crucifix number 12 in the series of The Passion. Christ is being punctured by a lance on Christ's proper left side. Very unusual.

Listened to a philharmonic performance here. The sound was resonating through the church and was absolutely beautiful. Would recommend listening to music here if given a chance. It is an experience which was absolutely worth the money spent!
